    Hello,

I am new to this list and have a "user" problem. I hope it's ok to ask here.

I try to use a scsi Scanner (Epson GT-7600S) on SuSE 7.1, which is correctly
    recognized by sgcheck
        /dev/sg0 0/0/2/0 Processor EPSON SCANNER GT-7600
and by "cat /proc/scsi/scsi", but produces an error, if I start xsane
       "unknown type M or level @, using B 3".

    "scanimage -L" shows:
[epson] Unknown type or level , using B 3
device 'epson:/dev/sg0' is a Epson GT-7600 flatbed scanner

I have commented out all entries except of "epson" in /etc/dll.conf. In
/etc/epson.conf I have only one line: "scsi epson". I also tried to uncomment
"/dev/scanner", but it had no effect.
I also updated with SuSE 7.1 update rpm to sane version 1.0.4-45, and with
Mandrake rpm for xsane 0.78, but get the same results.

By the way, everything worked fine with SuSE 7.0 (standard packages of sane
    and xsane).

Thanks for any help in advance
