    They don't look for the sane configuration files. This is done by the
    backends. Be sure to have only one set of backends installed. If you
    also have the backends from your distribution (e.g. in /usr/lib/sane)
    one frontend may use these and the other may use the backends in
    /usr/local/lib/sane.
