you should run ldconfig (no arguments) afterwards so that ld can rebuild
its library cache (or something far more technical for me to want to
understand!)
The next tricky part is getting your config correct... the poor folk in
this group had no end of inbox-bashing when I was trying to get my (USB)
scanner working ;-)
