    Hi,

I have changed the partport adress to 0x378 in the mustek_pp.conf file and
    now it's ok
        scanimage -L detect my scanner.
The message "mustek_pp:MD9848 is a medion MFS-600IIIP flatbedscanner" is
    displayed.

        But i have another problem , when i do a ./configure in sane1.0.3
    directory
my GTK librairies are not found and i can compile sane but without the
    graphical interface xscanimage.
        (and i can't compile Xsane)

I use Suze 6.4 (light version of a magazine) with KDE and with Yast i have
checked the installed packages on my computer.

Glib , Gimp and ... GTK 1.2.7 packages are installed !

But ... when i search the file gtk-config , i don't find it on my system.

./configure in sane 103 directory gives me :

        " .....
          checking for gtk-config ...(cached) no
          checking for gtk-version >=0.99.13 .... no
*** the gtk-config script installed by GTK could not be found
*** if GTK was installed in PREFIX make sure PREFIX/bin is in your PATH ,
    or set the GTK_CONFIG environnment
variable to the full path to gtk-config ....."

I have also tried to install the package GTK+-...1.2.8 ...i386.rpm
downloaded from the web , that
doesn't work better , my GTK librairies aren't found by ./configure of
    sane 1.0.3.

       What can i do ?
What files are searched by ./configure to detect the GTK librairies on my
    computer ?
Is it because i use KDE and not GNOME ?

I am not far from the success , it is certainly a little silly configuration
    bug , but what ?

Could you help me one more time ? (The last I hope )
      Thank you.

    Jochen Eisinger:
    Hi!

Probably you didn't specify the correct port your scanner is connected
to. You can do this in the file mustek_pp.conf:

    port <your port>

You can try all three possible values: 0x378 0x278 0x3BC, or you know
the value, or you have a look a /proc/ioports (after printing something,
    so parport is loaded)...

If it doesn't work, please send the output of

    # SANE_DEBUG_SANEI_PA4S2=128 scanimage -L

    and

    # cat /proc/ioports

    (after printing something)

    -- jochen
