Well, you're right, that's probably the reason for
some corrupted lines at the very beginning.
But I've tried 127kB as well. And the size of the
temporary buffer is not related to the max.
request size but to the actual line distance.

And when I first used the SCSI card supplied with
the scanner the problem even occured at 150dpi.
Furthermore with 64kB request size I've no trouble
(except some lines at the very beginning) even
at 600dpi, whereas with 127kB 600dpi never worked
for me.

But maybe your problem is different. If only the colors
are wrong this suggests a problem in the line distance
correction. However, I had parts of the image
shifted to the right/left (like a staircase). As the
line distance code works only with integral multiples
of "bpc" I can't image how this could happen there.

But anyway I can't work on the backend this or next
week because I'll be abroad.
