    hello dear friends :-)

    i have a little problem, and i hope i could find some answers is this
    list, thank you for your attention

    i have a flat bed scanner, which model is OpticPro 9630P, which
    connects to the PC using the parallel port, without SCCI interface

    the cdrom of instalation has the url of www.obmlink.com (our bussines
    machines inc.), but i guess the hardware is made by plustek, at least
    plustek has a model called identically: 9630P

    i have installed sane-1.0.3 (source) and the plustek_driver

    with lsmod i get:

    uxmal:~# lsmod
    Module Size Used by
    sd_mod 16092 0 (unused)
    ide-scsi 7412 0
    ppscsi 11228 0 (unused)
    sg 12160 0 (unused)
    scsi_mod 52048 3 [sd_mod ide-scsi ppscsi sg]
    pt_drv 74928 0 (unused)
    sb 34740 0 (unused)
    uart401 6352 0 [sb]
    sound 58284 0 [sb uart401]
    es1371 24608 0
    soundcore 2788 10 [sb sound es1371]
    loop 7872 0 (unused)

    and with:

    $ ls -l /proc/scsi
    total 0
    dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Dec 12 07:13 ide-scsi
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Dec 12 07:13 scsi

    with dmesg i get:

    $ dmesg
    ...
    pt_drv : driver version 0.37-21
    pt_drv : no device(s) detected, (-9020)
    pt_drv : driver version 0.37-21
    pt_drv : no device(s) detected, (-9020)
    ppSCSI 0.92 (0.92) installed
    scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
    scsi : 1 host.

    and in my /etc/modules.conf i get

    $ cat /etc/modules.conf
    ...
    alias char-major-40 pt_drv
    post-install pt_drv modprobe -k parport
    options pt_drv lampoff=60 warmup=15 port=0x378 lOffonEnd=0 mov=0

    when the pc starts (at booting) the scanner turns on the tube lamp, as
    indicated by the options of /etc/modules.conf, up to this point there
    seems to be no problem

    but when i try to scan i get:

    $ scanimage
    scanimage: no SANE devices found

    $ scanimage --listdevices
    scanimage: no SANE devices found

    where could remain the problem ?

    thanks a lot for your help

    greetings

    erasmo

    pd. the parallel port is already stated as EPP
