preview window feature request

Greeings from a Happy SANE user,

I've been doing some scanning lately with xscanimage and while I like
what it offers me (no windows 9x!) I do have some problems with it.

Specifically I'm not sure I really like the fact that you have to
explicity open the preview window and grab a preview when you start
scanning. I also don't like the fact that you can't just grab the
outline of the scanned area to change the dimensions.

I know I can use the sliders on the main panel to change the x,y
coordinates, but I think that's clunky. I was looking at what gimp
offers and I was wondering if there would be any way to using that
code inside our preview window?

It would also be neat if you could zoom in on the preview window as
well.

In summary, here are the features I'd like to see. And if I hade the
time and the programming knowledge I'd try to do it myself, but I just
don't have the time. Too many other projects (house hunting!) taking
my time right now.

Front Feature Requests:

1. Integrated preview and control panel. You always have the preview
panel up, and it grabs a preview when you start the code.

2. Ability to adjust the area to be scanned on screen, without having
to use the sliders

3. Ability to zoom on on a preview for finer control.

4. Automatic naming of scans. This is a toughy, but basically some
method of having the name increment automagically when you scan
alot of stuff sequentially.

5. Checks to make sure you don't over-write an existing scaned in
image when saving you scan. This is a simple change.

Thanks,
John
