I would like to say that I am very confused here...

How It is possible the Color apple scanner to work with the canon
backend?

I am the the author of apple backend and I had include support for
-Apple Scanner (16 shades of Gray, Almost Full Support)
-Apple One Scanner (256 shades of gray, preliminary support...)
-Apple Color One Scanner (Color, only the hooks for the support)
in the apple.c backend.

My real problem was that I have documentation for all three scanners
but I own only the first.

Also The Apple Color Scanner interface is rather complicated to me.

The question is how it is possible for canon.c to work with the apple
scanners.

Do they use the same chip/firmware or something ?

Also some kind of administration would be usefull here in order to avoid
code duplication.

I do not have any problem to drop Apple Color Support as far as it is
supported by another developer/backend.

I would like to know because I will start coding in SANE again in one week~10
days from now...
