    Hi all...

    I just joined this list in the hopes of getting a better understanding
    of a problem I've been having with sane, aic7xxx and an HP ScanJet 5p.
    I have searched high and low and could not find an answer, but I'm new
    to linux and scsi so don't be too harsh if it's been discussed or I
    missed something obvious. :-)

    I am running RH7.0 with kernel 2.4.4, the latest aic7xxx drivers
    (6.1.13), an Adaptec 2930 scsi card and sane 1.0.4. The reason I am
    posting to this list is that I later connected an Exabyte 8mm tape
    drive to the system and was able to use it without any problems, hence
    making me think that something is wrond with the sane-backend.

    When I do a 'scanimage -v > /tmp/foo', most of the time it works.
    When I do a 'scanimage -v --mode color > /tmp/foo, I always get the
    following messages in my /var/log/messages:

    being set.

    And with the second example comes the messages in /var/log/messages
    that I quoted above.
