    Hi,

I haven't found any problems for the Phantom 636cx with a quick test
    (lineart, gray8bit, gray12bit, colour8bit, colour12bit, both at 150dpi on
a 10x15 cm format glossy photograph, placed excentrically on the glass).

Concerning the docs, I think also that it would be good to update the
man-page. You coulde.g. list the parallelport and USB scanners working
    with this backend release.

Also, I've found (this is probably a different issue though) that when
GNOME 1.4 is i18n-enabled with Hungarian as default locale (haven't tried
with others), the option backend-calibration and no-backtrace don't appear
in Xsane's extended options window (nor elsewhere). You could maybe put a
short sentence into the manpage that one can experience strange problems
when using (some?) locale(s). It took me some time to discover that the
bug was caused by the localisation and not this specific backend release.

Finally, I propose to remove the line "parallelport models unsupported"
at the SANE compatibility page. This was not really true even before, as
several SCSI-over-parport scanners could be operated without image
    calibration even in Sane 1.0.1.
