I am trying to operate a Canon F2710 film scanner with a HP workstation
    under HP-UX 10.20.

scanimage from sane-backends-1.0.4 crashed with core dump. It is necessary
to increase the size of cmd[] define_scan_mode() in backend/canon_scsi.c
to about 38 in order to avoid this.

None of the control options for brightness, contrast, high and low point
are working, however. Getting the gamma curve from the device yields an
array of bytes where alternatingly the first and the second 4 bits are
zero. Setting the gamma curve leads to severe discolorations. Setting
gamma to zero for e.g., red and green yields a picture in which there
are black, full blue, yellow and magenta portions.

Does anyone have an idea what is going wrong?

    Sincerely yours,

    Ulrich Deiters
