I dont have a 2.2 system at the moment. But I have noticed occasional
    problems
when scanning subsections of the entire scanner area. It is quite possible
    that we
may need to limit sizes to multiples of 8 or 16 pixels... This is a total
    guess, but
could explain some of the odd scans I have seen. I haven't looked at the
    interaction
between xscanimage or xsane and the backend.... I'm not sure if the
    restriction
could be put in the backend (may need zero fills to pad to frontend
    requested
size) or in the frontend by letting the user only select particular size
    areas.
Glad to see so much activity on the snapscan backend.
