    This sounds like a manifestation of my previous misleading instructions :-(

    Make sure you have removed the comments from the #include lines for USB stuff
    in both snapscan.c (line 238) *and* snapscan-scsi.c (line 55). If after
    recompiling 'snapscan -L' still doesn't find a scanner I'd suspect the USB
    code within sane. Try

    export SANE_SNAPSCAN_DEBUG=128
    snapscan -L

    and mail me the output.

    From what I have read u96v057.bin seems to be the correct firmware file for
    the 620u. At least that's what's mentioned on
    http://utopia.knoware.nl/~joey/linux/acerscan.htm.

    You may have to recompile xsane after upgrading from 1.0.1 to 1.0.3 to make it
    work again.
