    Hi Jenna,

there is no wonder that the scanner is not recongniced.
The Linotype Hell Jade is known with the scsi id "Office".

If the "Jade" with the scsi id "JADE" is the same scanner,
    the following should work:

    edit sane-1.0.2/backend/umax-scanner.h
and enter after line 120 ( "LinoHell", "Office ",) the floowing line:
      "LinoHell", "JADE ",

    then do
    touch umax.c

    and recompile and reinstall sane.

    Bye
    Oliver

    Dear List,

I'm new to Linux and this group but I have a question. I have tried to set up my Linotype-Hell Jade scanner and all it has been is hell. I have the following configuration -

[root@sandman /root]# /usr/bin/find-scanner find-scanner: found scanner "LinoHell JADE V1.2" at device /dev/scanner find-scanner: found scanner "LinoHell JADE V1.2" at device /dev/sg1 find-scanner: found scanner "LinoHell JADE V1.2" at device /dev/sgb

    [root@sandman sane.d]# scanimage -T scanimage: no SANE devices found [root@sandman sane.d]#

Does anybody know what's up? I am doing all of these commands as a root user, so I don't think it is a permissions problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
