    Hi,

    this could be caused by a bug with an old hp-backend. Remove the line
    scsi HP from hp.conf-file.

    Create the link as root with

    ln -s /dev/sgc /dev/scanner

    But if find-scanner lists "unknown device", there could be additional
    problems.
