i tried that. on bubbles (the sgi trying to use the scanner on blossom)
blossom has an entry on /etc/hosts
so i just put blossom in net.conf. that did not work, so i tried the ip
address and it still did not detect.
blossom can see sane over the network through localhost being in its
net.conf so i think its working for blossom. i have the entries in
/etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf on blossom.
