Hello!

I have purchased a Mustek 12000SP flatbed scanner and I have some
problems getting sane/(x)scanimage working.
I tested the scanner under win3.1 and a Dawicontrol DC2974
SCSI-Controller (Tekram DC-390 chip) and the scanner was present at
boot time, but not in windows; with NCR53C810 - nothing at boot
time.(The settings were ok...)
The scanner is only working under windows with his own SCSI-Controller,
this is a DTC3181LE form Domex.

Because I had an error compiling sane from 1.00 and 1.01 sources
(something with djpeg... Error1) I tried sane 0.73 rpm from SuSe 5.3
(My system is still libc5).
Sane says:

> scanimage -d /dev/sg0
scanimage: open of device /dev/sg0 failed: Invalid argument

But there it is:

Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 06 Lun: 00
Vendor: SCANNER Model: Rev: 2.02
Type: Scanner ANSI SCSI revision: 01 CCS

and :

> less /etc/sane.d/mustek.conf
option strip-height 1

scsi MUSTEK * Scanner
option linedistance-fix
option lineart-fix

scsi SCANNER
option linedistance-fix
option lineart-fix

/dev/scanner
option linedistance-fix
option lineart-fix

The devs and links are ok :

> ls -al /dev/sg0
crwxrwxrwx 1 root users 21, 0 Feb 6 1997 /dev/sg0

> ls -al /dev/scanner
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root users 3 Sep 27 22:21 /dev/scanner ->sg0

I can't figure out, where the problem is ...
Is this a sane or Linux or scanner problem ???

AK
