Corruption in scan on HP-5100C

Hi,
Hardware: HP ScanJet 5100C (Parallel port) - no printer attached
on Dec Alpha

Software: Linux 2.2.7, with ppscsi

Problem: When I do a scan I see image corruption - the right edge of the
image is ragged, and in full colour mode some lines are the wrong colour
(perhaps r/g/b out of alignment?) - my guess is that someone somewhere is
losing bytes - how do I tell who is the culprit ???

Dave

P.S. My hp.conf says:

#scsi HP
/dev/scanner

(Note the # - without it sane seg faulted)
