It certainly shouldn't segfault. From the output you provided, it
looks as if a 4 gets munged into -4 (4294967292) somewhere. Perhaps
this is a compiler bug? What compiler and optimization flags were you
using? I tried reproducing things here but everything appears to be
working as expected.
