Java implementation of NET backend?

No, I'm not saying that one exists. I'm just testing the level of interest
in such a thing.

I was thinking about the WinSANE idea and it occurred to me that a properly
designed Java bean that implements the NET backend functionality (just
protocol negotiation; not lowlevel device interaction) could be leveraged in
SO many ways. The most interesting use of it to me right now would be a
scan GUI ala xscanimage used in conjunction with a TWAIN interface accessing
the bean through JNI, but obviously the reuse possibilities of such a thing
are limitless (an ImageProducer abstraction of SANE; RMI access to these
images; a SANE ORB; yadda, yadda, yadda).

I apologize if this topic has come up before; I'm rather new to this mailing
list. Let me know what you think.

Regards,
Scott Wells
