Well, the firmware is broken. Gray and lineart works only for
>=60dpi (new version even for >=75 dpi only), and in color mode
everything except 150, 300, 600, 1200dpi ends up in a mess.
So in color mode all odd resolutions are mapped to closest 'even'
one greater than or equal the desired.
