backend for newer mustek-scsi-scanners

Hi,
I bought a Mustek-Scanner
ScanMagic Model 4830 S(for SCSI) S/N M380471158, which isn't contained
up to now inthe list of supported devices of Sane. So it doesn't seem to work
with the Sane backends (the scanner is recognized at boot time by Linux,
however).
Questions:
1. Is it possible in the nearer future that there will be a backend which
supports this type of Mustek scanners?

2. What information and from whom is needed (binary parameters for the scanner
interface, for instance) to adapt the existing interface to the new scanner.

I am not a C-programmer, my experience is in main-frame ass, 80x86 ass, PL/I,
COBOL and Forth.

Maybe I could learn something about C and do the adapting myself :=))???

Thanks for some hints to my problem
