In theory yes. We even have a driver for a parallel Mustek scanner IIRC.

But there are not many.

No. SCSI != Parallel. Very much.

That might be, because the scanner is SCSI internally, and has a parallel-
to-SCSI adapter (like the ones for laptops) in the scanner.
Thus is makes sense to just install the software for the parallel-to-SCSI
adapter, and then run normally on top of that with the SCSI driver for
the scanner.
