I was able to get the scanner to scan in gray mode. It took me sometime
and a couple of reboot to get that far. I have a Microtek 600ZS. If I
try to scan in color, the scanner head move all the way to the end and
returns. I then get a device buzy error. There is no output from
scanimage as it is scanning. The Microtek support page said this is a
single pass scanner. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

FYI: To get the scanner to work in gray mode, I have to turn parity
checking off on the SCSI card.
