New and improved development model?

I beleave a centralised version control system (CVS) would speed up
SANE development and make it easier to "outsiders" (me) to follow the
current progress of SANE.

I suggest the following:

- A CVS server with write access to the ones currently maintaining
the source, and read access to all
- All change to the source generate a mail sent to a new mailinglist
(sane-cvs@mostang.com ?).
- Every day a source snapshot is extracted, wrapped up and made
available on FTP

Any comments? Any reason this has not been done earlier?

BTW: Someone should add december to
<URL:http://www.mostang.com/sane/mail.html>. :-)
