You have to change the group of the scanner-device to "scanner".
The name of the scanner device is printed if you use the tool
find-scanner as root.
/dev/scanner is not the scanner-device, you have to use the /dev/sg? device!
After you added your loginname to the group scanner, you have to log out and log in again!
