Highscreen Realscan + Microtek Backend = not working?

Does anybody use the combination Highscreen Realscan + Microtek Backend?

What did you do to get it work? For some strange reason the blue
layer doesn't scan too well on my scanner, using xscanimage and
sane-0.73.

Let's not clobber up this list, so please write me directly!

(P.S: The scanner works without flaws under windows 95)
