I'm very new to both gtk and sane, but I saw a readme for gtk+-0.99.4
or 5 that said it "breaks" a number of things. It is needed for gimp
0.99-19. Maybe this is is problem. You might want to try an older
version of the gdk. If you compiled on the static libs, and link
against them, then it should not break anything else, such as
gimp. Just a thought.
