i'd applied the patch before i send you my first mail.
nevertheless i tried sane-0.71 again, but there was no difference.
but now the good news -
i tried it with linux-2.1.88 and all the problems are away !!!
(i used linux-2.0.29 before)
it works with the original sane- and kernel-sources.

i try it with NCR-53c810 and Adaptec-2940U.
the scsi-protocol seems very stable - i've access to the rest of my scsi-
devices during scan.
