What I want to announce is The "Apple Scanner(s) pre Alpha" support patch!
A premature version of the backend is allmost ready:
I will post it on this list about Monday...
it will support:
*Apple Scanner (Halftone, and LineArt, and maybe gray16)
*OneScanner support should but it won't work. I 'll need some feedback on this.
However it should be easy to make it scan with some tweaking.
*ColorOneScanner: Not a chance at the current level of the backend.
Question:
AppleScanner has a gray16 mode. I am capable of scanning in binary modes (1bit)
but I am having some problems with this (4bit) mode. scanimage segfaults?
What should I do?
I could built an internal buffer so that backend would report 8bit depth to
the frontends. Is this the right thing to do? or should the frontends be aware
for such "weird" formats?
