xscanimage: Feature-request

Hi there,

I *guess* this is not possible with xscanimage at the moment, but I'd like
to have a separate option for selecting a scan size.

Currently, selecting the scan means, I select a range first and then twiddle
with the resolution until I am happy with that and then I start the scanner.
Changing the dots per inch for the scan keeps the size of the region to scan
constant, and so the resulting image size changes.

I'd like to be able to set a resolution (e.g. 1280x1024) position the scan
rectangle somewhere on the preview. Changing the 'scan dpi' would in that case
resize the box (evenly around the center of the box) that's going to be
scanned from the page while keeping the image geometry fixed.
This would be useful, as I do quite a few scans with a certain application
in mind (i.e. basis for a background image) so I know what x/y-sized image I
need, and I'd just like to be able to see what range of the original I could
scan (or in case the scan gets too bad -- due to the bad original) I could
then make the scanner scan a bigger area while still maintaining the target
screen resolution.

Or - is that already possible (without adjusting position, size and scan dpi
each manually until I again come to the target resolution I want)?
