I'd also like to thank the SANE developers.

I'm also the owner of a UMAX Astra 1200S Scanner, which is on it's own SCSI
card in my machine (It's a SIIG SCSI controller, I've also used it on my
other Adaptec controller with the same results). I've encountered similar
problems but haven't had the time to look at the code to see if I can
figure out what's going on, but I figure this would be a good time to mention
them.

I have a similar experience, except that the 'junk' tends to just be 'white'
for me. The amount of it seems to be dependent upon the scan resolution such
that I suspect there's a fixed number of 'junk data bytes' that are being
interpreted by the scanner driver as an appropriate number of lines. This
junk also sometimes plays havoc with the options to set length of scan when
making low-resolution scans [It stops early]. I find things get REALLY bad
if I use the options for narrowing the width of the scanned image, so I avoid
using them.

Daniel.

PS. Right now I'm not the very latest version of SANE, i'm one behind.
I will be upgrading this coming weekend. However, since someone else
is experiencing the same problem with 0.67 I think it's safe to assume
it hasn't been fixed yet.
