OK, I finally got around to put together SANE version 0.67.
Noteworthy changes:

- The Java API by Jeff Freedman is included.

- The UMAX backend has been updated by Oliver Rauck. The UMAX
T630 is now supported and gamma-data works on the Astra
12000S with 30 bpp (note: none of the SANE frontends
presently support 30 bpp mode).

- The Microtek backend has been updated by Matt Marjanovic.
Various bug fixes, scalar gamma correction has been added,
and transparency adapter support has been added by
Tim Prime.

- Extremely preliminary support for the Mustek Paragon 600 II
N (parallel-port scanner) has been added. This is the work
of Andreas Czechanowski. All I did was trying to merge his
changes into the existing Mustek backend. I think the merge
is complete, but we haven't had a chance yet to test the
code with the 600 II N, so I'd not recommend to try the
Mustek backend on such a scanner just yet...

- When preloading backends into the dll backend, the order in
which the backends appear is now the same as when dynamically
loading them (I know at least one person on this list cares
about this... ;-)

Everything is available from:

ftp://199.183.24.232/pub/sane/

I updated the source RPM and the Alpha binary RPM. As usual, just
send me other binary distributions if you build them. Also, please
let me know when you build SANE on any platform other than Linux/Alpha
so I can keep the table in http://www/sane/support.html current.

Cheers,
