Problems with xscanimage (sane 0.63)

Hi there!

I have a UMAX Astra 600s. I have isntalled Sane 0.63 after installing
0.62 last week to check wether I could make it work or not.

Sane 0.62's xscanimage ran fine, yet I couldn't get good results with my
scanner.
Now Sane 0.63's xscanimage just won't run. It is giving me errors like:

** ERROR **: sigsegv caught

This happens after selecting the UMAX device /dev/scanner, which is
linked to /dev/sgb

BTW, I have the latest GTK+ libraries installed.

I tried, as suggested in the README file, scanimage, and the scanner
starts to work and scans a whole page, though I still get this error
message:

[ignasi@fremen bin]# ./scanimage -d umax:/dev/scanner >t.pnm
Segmentation fault

I also tried as root, just in case... :-), but it didn't work either.

This is really anoying me, not because it may don't work well with my
scanner, but mainly because, at least, with 0.62, I was able to start
the program.

Any help or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Ignasi
