Well, I have got the AIX 4 generic driver from Matt Jacobs working, and
have been able to do a SCSI inquiry and identify the scanner as a user.
Hopefully, things should move fairly smoothly from now on.

Does anyone have suggestions regarding the best way to have a minimal
test system? I am using an HP4c, and would like to minimize the
possibilities for errors.

Can I build a statically linked program, that only includes the needed
routines?
