Anyone gotten a UMAX Astra 600s to work?

I've got a UMAX Astra 600S connected bo my Linux PC. I've managed to get
sane0.61 compiled and I've gotten xscanimage to run, but the image doesn't
look correct. It looks as though it is scanning the same few lines over
and over again. Looks something like (I'll try to emulate it in ASCII :):
--- --- --- --- --- ---
--- --- --- --- --- --
- --- --- --- --- --- -
-- --- --- --- --- ---
Has anyone gotten the Astra 600S to work with xscanimage and sane? If so,
what did you have to do?
BTW: I'm running Debian Linux with the 2.0.27 kernel, my SCSI adapter is
an Adaptec 2940.
