Yup, it's a FAQ, but I can't blame you for not knowing: I was hoping
GIMP would come out with a new revision of GTK+ fairly soon, but is
hasn't happened yet. Anyhow, until a new GIMP version shows up,
you'll have to use the GTK+ version in the SANE ftp directory.
Unfortunately, my ISP has not fixed the anonymous ftp problem yet, so
you can't get to the ftp area right now. As a temporary fix, I placed
a copy of the right gtk+ version in the following directory:

ftp://cage.cs.arizona.edu/pub/davidm/

There is also a patch relative to the gimp-0.99.10 version that might
save you some downloading. The file name is gtk+960606.tar.gz for the
full tar ball, gtk+960606-davidm.diff.gz for the diffs (yes, I realize
I'm living in 1997, but that typo has made its way into a couple of
mails already, so I won't change it).

Also be sure to delete all previously installed gtk+ libraries before
installing this version (typically /usr/local/lib/*{gtk,gdk,glib}*).
